White Chicken Pizza- yummie to my tummy!

Now that I am a stay at home wife/mom I do not have any excuses not to have dinner on the table for Ryan when he gets home!  I am constantly trying to find new takes on favorites or typical comfort food.  Our family is big into organic cooking (yes we have bought into it) and using substitutes to reduce salt intake, fat, etc.  So last night we had a Little family favorite homemade pizza! Pizza is easy to make and ridiculously cheaper to make at home instead of ordering out. Here is the recipe for white chicken pizza.

Anyways, last night we made the pizza different. I used a dough mix (about .98 at target) and then for the sauce I mixed 1 tBl. sesame seeds, 1/2C pesto (you can make your own or use prepared), 1/2 cup mayo, 1tBl Dijon mustard and spread over the pizza.  After the sauce was spread we sprinkled over about 6 pieces of crumbled turkey bacon. Of course with pizza you can't not have cheese- use Parmesan cheese to cover and pine nuts.  Follow the directions on the pizza dough box for cooking and in about 15 minutes dinner is ready!

Wordless Wednesday

Swimming is Garrison's favorite pastime- especially without a diaper.  He loves to climb out and roll around in the grass. Doesn't seem too fun to me but he loves it!!! I have some pictures of him rolling in the grass in his "birthday suit", but I don't think Garrison would appreciate them being released to the public ;) Well this post ending up being not so wordless...

Trystan Tyler

This is a picture of my newest cousin- Trystan Tyler. He was born on July 9  weighing in at 8 pounds 14 oz.  After he was born he put his parents through quite a scare and it was later found that he has a small whole in his heart.  The Dr.s say that it should heal on its on, but they just need to keep an "extra eye" on him (like as a new parent you aren't already stressed out enough?!?!)

Marshal, Samantha and Tyler were all able to go home on Saturday and are all doing well!  Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers!

I am trying to remember this as we are back to teaching Garrison to put himself asleep. We have been rocking the little booger for a while now- but he is just too busy to want anything to do with it!  He is so curious about everything!  So we have started letting him put himself to sleep.  He is actually doing pretty well with it though! It only took him 15 minutes this past time to put himself down for a nap.  And he really didn't cry at all- just played.  I think it will go a lot smoother when he can actually sit down after he has pulled himself up (he gets stuck so we go in every 10 minutes or so to lay him back down!)  Consistency is the biggest part though- so we are going to keep on trucking!

Oh yea - ps. last night I put him down at 8 and he went to sleep without even a whimper! Don't know if it was because Gar had been awake since 12 that afternoon or after 8 months of life he has come to understand the goodness of a nap. But who cares- he went to sleep! YYYYYIIIIIPPPPPPPIIIIIIEEEEE!!  Life is GOOD!

July 4th Weekend!!!

We decided that for once on a holiday we would not drive around Mobile visiting everyone we know and going to 80 different get togethers.  We spent the 4th relaxing as a family.  We took Garrison to the park and went to my parents house. Thats all we did- and it was WONDERFUL!

Garrison loved the park and the ducks! When we would pick him up he would cry :( He was so cute- he would wave to the duckies and say "hey".  

After the park we went to my parents and ate hot dogs and Gar swam in his awesome froggy pool.

It was a great long weekend!

A Messy Home is a Happy Home?

Excuse This Home

Some homes try to hide the fact
that children shelter there.

Ours boasts of it quite openly,
the signs are every where.

For smears are on the windows,
little smudges on the doors;

I should apologize I guess,
for the toys strewn on the floor.

But I sat down with the children;
we played and laughed and read,

And if the doorbell doesn't shine,
their eyes will shine instead.

For when at times I'm forced to choose
The one job or the other,

I want to be a homemaker
-but first I'll be a mother.

What Did I Do Today?

Today I left some dishes dirty; The bed got made around 3:30. The diapers soaked a little longer, The odor grew a little stronger. The crumbs I spilled the day before, Are staring at me from the floor. The fingerprints there on the wall, Will likely be there still next fall. The dirty streaks on those windowpanes Will still be there next time it rains. Shame on you, you sit and say, Just what did you do today?

I held a baby till she slept, I held a toddler while he wept. I played a game of hide and seek; I squeezed a toy so it would squeak. I pulled a wagon, sang a song, Taught a child right from wrong. What did I do this whole day through? Not much that shows, I guess that' s true. Unless you think that what I've done, Might be important to someone, With bright blue eyes and soft brown hair, If that is true...I've done my share.
